GENTS
Guys Experiencing New Transitional Living Skills (G.E.N.T.S)
The GENTS program was developed to address the developmental needs of our youth who may be identified as Developmentally Disabled or has some cognitive delays. The program was developed to work with residents who are between the ages of 15-17 years old. The GENTS program takes place in a home setting outside of Safely Home. It runs Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the school year and from 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. during the summer months. Through this program the residents learn how to prepare menus and meals, grocery shop, clean, complete their laundry, and take care of a home environment. While this program, gives the residents many opportunities to immerse themselves in independent living, it also assists the residents in developing their interpersonal skills.
